Free to Me desk with a very strange lid

I had originally planned to do a post about some great chalk paint tips I recently picked up, but that will have to wait.  That post is being pre-empted by JUNK!

I picked this up yesterday, it was almost free to me.....it was thrown in with a bunch of other "junk".  The top is deeeeesgusting, not to mention the bug remains that are still attached in the corners.  Well "ceci est si me"!  The yukkier the piece, the better the "redoux".

I am loving how long this desk is, it will be my new "craft" desk in my office, but I have been brainstorming what to do with the top. Currently, it is a rotting piece of MDF.  Hmmm, possibly it has been hanging out in someone's backyard.

I thought I would probably purchase a piece of MDF and paint to match.  This morning though, fate was on my side.  While out running an errand, I cruised past my favorite source for wood pallets.  Today, just for moi, they had thrown away hardwood flooring samples.  I know, strange choice for a desk top, but trust me, it will work.

Stay tuned, I am deep in the middle of a kitchen "redoux" and my garage is filling up with junk.  My kids are back in school, I am back at work, and the "l'acte de balance" has begun!

  1. Ooh, the hardwood samples sound great! Can't wait to see the finished project.
That's one looong desk, but it looks narrow so it won't take up a whole room. Great find!
