The $5 Phenomena. A score of two chairs

I recently purchased these chairs from a Craig's list posting.  They are in excellent condition, and I thought I would "redoux" one of them to go in my teen's room, where we are going with a Pottery Barnish contemporary look.

The chairs have a low, postmodern look that with a new fabric, and a little clean up on the wood, they will be fantastic.  They are totally solid and in excellent condition.

Here comes the kicker.  The chairs were posted for $10 each.   I arrived at sellers home, eager to pick up my $20 bargain.  I hand the woman the money, she pause, and says, "well", (meanwhile, I am thinking, "aughhhhhh, I screwed up the price and got these confused with something else, she is probably going to tell me she was asking $100 for each chair"!!!)  Then she says, "I actually posted it wrong, I should have said $5 per chair, here let me give you a $10 back."

WHAT?????
WHEN, IF EVER DOES THIS HAPPEN IN THE WORLD OF SELLER AND BARGAIN HUNTER.

Of course, adrenaline filled, greedy bargain hunter that I am quickly starts scanning her front room to see if there is anything else she wants to sell me for cheap.
Nuthin.
Oh well, I shouldn't expect a miracle to strike twice!

What kinds of funny bargain hunting experiences have you had?  I want to hear them all!

Linking up today with (it went up late, it goes for a few days, link up, this one is fun)

  4. those are cool I bet they will look great redone.. I was at a thrift store a few weeks back and saw this rocking chair. I asked the guy how much. He said make me an offer. I told him I only had $6 on me. He said he could do that. I looked around some more and 20 minutes later I went to pay. He said What did we agree on? I said $6 and he said No Its $5 So only a buck but every dollar counts
