J'aime le lundi - Happy Happy Joy Joy, Yellow Cabinet

Happy Monday!  I am probably one of those annoying people that actually LOVES Monday.  Monday and Friday are my favorite days of the week.  Monday, because it is the start of a new week, the chance to do life a little better than the week before, to work a little harder, and to start a new project!

BTW,  Signs and Wonders , my post about turning a Coffee Table Top into a vintage French Sign is being featured at the very fun and creative Mandy at "Project Queen" tonight, so be sure to hop over and check out what else she is featuring, it is always fun!

I was recently privileged to receive some "free" furniture from the daughter of a lovely woman who had passed away.  There were some solid pieces I was given, but you know I can never leave anything alone.....

Some of you may remember this piece from Tippy Tuesday "Le Chisel"
It had lovely bones, but I was not crazy about the Lattice molding on the front, it didn't fit with my "vision" of this little piece.  It also, had a ton of "faux" distressing indents on it, so quite a bit of time was spent filling these in with spackle, sanding, fill, sand, repeat....you get the idea...

I wanted this piece to have a sense of humor, I don't take anything too seriously, least of all my furniture.  I used Microsoft Word's "Word Art" to make the font.  Printed it, and used Carbon Paper to trace onto the finished piece.

By the way, #1724's name is "Margaux", and she is quite the sophisticate!

If you speak French, then you know the joke.  It is "Yellow Street".  I thought the made up address, gave it a little bit more "prestige", and a "faux" history, "Margaux"  lived in the Salon of an oh-so-chic Mademoiselle, with fantastique decor!

Just in case, you didn't notice the word "Paris" on the furniture, I thought "Margaux" needed her own sign to remind you where she used to live...Margaux is quite the fashionista too.  She is wearing a few coats of ASCP "Arles", followed by my home made mixture of Tobacco Brown Glaze,  and just because she likes to shine, she is wearing just a hint of Martha Stewart Gold Craft Paint on her highlights.

Ooo la la, she even has a little Sassy side, as she likes to show you that she is Sage Green inside!

I brought this down to "Paris Flea" to sell this weekend.  I was lucky enough to be there working on Saturday when a woman began "gushing" about how much she loved this piece and was definitely going to buy it.  That was one rewarding conversation.  Since the "Flea" goes all weekend, and I only work 4 hours out of that time, the odds were slim that I would meet the new owner of my cabinet.

I was so happy to witness "Le Cabinet" going to a new home.  It was happy happy joy joy kind of a moment.

Au revoir Margaux!
