The Apprentice and getting kids to help

I try as much as I can to get my kids to help in my work, or other projects I might have gotten my hands into.  Often, they love doing the menial tasks because it means earning some extra cash while they are helping mom.  In my part of the world, we are on a two week break, half way through, and though I live in Sunny California, we have had anything but.  The kids are trapped inside with me and this is what we say daily:

I am attempting a reupholstery project for a friend.  I have done some minor reupholstering in the past, but this piece has proved the most challenging.
I am not sure it was meant to be reupholstered, but then lots of furniture wasn't meant to be painted,
that never stopped me.
I was starting to go insane, mostly because of the vast number of staples located in the frame.
Enter "The Apprentice"

This is Travis, aka, the red head of the family.
He loves anything that involves tools, working with his hands, or building something.

I was only too thrilled to pass this task on to him.
I could have been here for the rest of break pulling staples.
Thank goodness he comes cheap.

I can't wait for summer break, the weather will be clearer and maybe we can spend our time doing a whole bunch more of this:
Ice Cream in Capitola with a gaggle of kids

It makes me want to do this just thinking about it:

Hope the sun is shining wherever you are, and if not, do something with your kids.
Or better yet, put them to work.  They come cheap.

  2. Lucky you, a cute, sweet, and cheap helper, who you also happen to love and who loves you back. What could be sweeter,it almost erases the pain of pulling out a jillion staples.LOL Hope you get some sun soon.
