Tables changeantes or Changing Tables

Ahhh, finally a project is Fini !

I picked up this piece from my day of adventure with the Chinese Finger Trap. You know, the day when I went to get all the Free Stuff and managed to trap my ring finger in the folding seat?

Along with all my free finds, I got a few things for a few dollars too.  One of them being this Changing Table.
it wasn't this bad, but close....i remembered before pic after i got started....

The top little bumpers come off, and can be saved for another project, just fill the holes with your favorite brand of Wood Filler.

I then sanded smooth, sprayed it out in my favorite "Modern Masters Basic Black" and then dry brushed ASCP Emperor's Silk Red over the top.  After this had dried, I sanded well with a 400 grit sandpaper to make it super smooth.  I finished the piece with  Dark Wax from Liberon.

I added little wheels to make this piece multi-functional, it could stand in as a buffet, a small kitchen Island, or anywhere you need storage.  But, it is definitely not a changing table anymore!

I had these baskets hanging around, sprayed them in flat black spray paint.  How did I make those labels?

I had a package of these for another project.  These can easily be found at your local Craft store, and there are endless uses for them.

I sanded them, then used this wipe on stain, which I love for small projects.

When the stain was dry, I sprayed them with Chalk Board Paint and Drilled holes big enough for twine to go through.

I think instead of Changing Table turned chest we can call her "Florentine" which in French means "blossoming from".  My favorite type of furniture to REDOUX is one that is finished with it's old life and is waiting to be transformed into something completely new.

Ta Da!!!

  12. Very nice!!!! I have a changing table very similar to this that holds my craft stuff perfectly. However, it still somewhat looks like a changing table. I really just need to paint it! thanks for the inspiration!
