It was a little experiment, that had worked beautifully for an artist friend of mine, mix paint with Joint Compound, works the same as the expensive Venetian Plaster. Ummmmm....NO! I had already spend a fortune on on Venetian Plastering other rooms and had run out of "le cash"
This looks like someones 70's bathroom gone wrong.
I think Thelma Houston was left singing the disco hit in my bathroom,

I should have installed a Disco Ball to match:
This was one of my earliest endeavors, plastered between twins napping schedules, and quite hurriedly! I ran out of steam when it was finished (mostly). Even though I wasn't thrilled with the final product, I thought I would change it eventually........7 years later, I decided enough was enough.
I didn't have the energy to sand down the Plaster, so I just camouflaged it. I used Sherwin Williams "Icicle" on the walls and "Quicksilver" on the Ceiling. The walls of my office are "Krypton"
Icicle
Quicksilver
Krypton
Here is a sample of the wall "after"
It is so much lighter in there, it actually feels like a whole different room.
NOW......For the BIG REVEAL, the cabinets!
Yikes, these were not the actual "befores", but we have these all over my home, no, the carpet isn't blue, the camera just made it look like this. Please don't judge on the water damage, relief is coming soon.
Here is the after with Chalk Paint:
I used Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in "Country Gray", with "Liberon" Wax in "Walnut"
We have a love affair with Antique Maps (in our heads, not in our pocketbook), but these knobs from Anthropology just bowled me over. I HAD to have them!
And for a little personal touch, I used "Monogrammed" knobs from Anthropology for our last name on the drawers.
Yippee, now here is another shot of the wall by the shower:
bye bye Thelma
