Ahhh, summer, lazy days. Sunshine filled homes. Slower work space. Maybe a little spring cleaning before we indulge ourselves?
Warning, what I am about to show you is not for the faint of heart. Clean freaks, click away from here.
My children's official summer break has begun and I decided to take stock of the junk I have been hoarding, waiting to turn it into some lovely "redouxs". I have been consistently busy with contract work, and my goal this summer was to put a hold on that and venture into the world of original sales.Took a look around, (under cover of darkness), to take stock. I was greeted with a disturbing sight. My lovely, and not cheap drying rack for cabinet doors was now the storage spot for a an airing out of a recently used sleeping bag, full of wood smoke.
Who did that??????
Ummm, moi?
Onto my side yard (aka, junk yard) to see if there was anything salvageable, and also recently had the idea to pretty up the space with flowers, idea from Barb at Knack for turning furniture into flower holders Truly, she is a genius with furniture, go see what she did, then come back for more pain here.
What pray tell is that stuff? The bones of furniture past. A wood pallet used as a platform to spray paint small items. The backs of my chools and some freebies I scored off Craigs list. '
Enough of the great outdoors, back inside I went....
Now this is a sad site indeed. Several years ago, I gave this print to my jazz lovin husband, by an artist whose work we both admire. I couldn't afford a decent frame at the time, so went with the cheap metal one the dealer supplied. Fast forward 8 years, I was recently in his office where the artwork was displayed. I couldn't believe I had let that great artwork sit in that crummy frame. I took it home post haste, with the intention of "redouxing" a cool frame and returning it in a few days. That was about 3 months ago......Suffering husband hasn't said a word. Bless his soul.
Yikes, there is something growing on those doors! Oh, it is just thick layers of dirt. Doors removed from Entertainment Center on side yard that got chopped in half to serve as an outdoor buffet. Now that is a post I am looking forward to sharing with you! NEXT WEEK!
Moving on.....
I wish I could say there was magic behind this curtain, usually there is. This is my work space/sanding space/Spray gun space. When I am organized, it works like a charm. I sand, with one big fan at the end. When that is completed, I spray with my favorite spray gun (or brush, as the case may be), and the rest of my garage sits happily separated from the work mess.
Not so now, it has become "le dumping ground"
There is definitely some potential in there.....somewhere. I have grand plans for each and every piece of it.
Will start on it right away, after I enjoy a SF Giants game today. Maybe a day at the ball park will clear my head and I hit a home run with some of this stuff.
au revoir - GTC
ps GO GIANTS!!!!
Yay, you remembered my Bearden art! Did not want to bug you. Please Re-Doux iT! If not, I will and no one wants to see that.
