Le Pair of Chairs

A Pair of Chairs....

Chairs are on my favorite Redoux to do.  You can almost never have too many chairs.  Chairs can be stately, whimsical, frilly, utilitarian, the list is endless.

I love plain wood chairs, they are just waiting to be dressed up.

I had the first chair for years.  Originally it was a "free to me" when someone moved.  The chair didn't make the cut for moving truck.  It lived for a long time in my playroom looking like this:

(I took the before picture a little after I got started....)
Oh, and this was the pad, um, yuk.

And Voila, this is the chair after, 2 coats of ASCP Graphite, a graphic from "The Graphics Fairy" and a little transfer using "Citrasolv"  (you can check their website for how to do ink transfers, it is amazingly easy).

Why didn't I do this a long time ago?  So regal and lovely now, it is heading to PFM for this weekend's sale.

Chair Number Deux
A little number I picked up from my local Goodwill for about $5, thank you Gail from My Repurposed Life  for encouraging me to try a $5 limit on purchases for Redoux!

Here is my bargain after.  1 Coat of ASCP Graphite, Pure White and Emperor's Silk on Base, details, and writing.  A nice coat of wax and we are ready to tell someone to "S'ASSEOIR"!!!

  1. Gorgeous! I like chairs too, because they are a quick finish and sometimes you just need a project you can get that finished satisfaction from quickly!

  6. I really need to try ASCP. The chairs look amazing. I am on the hunt for chairs - you would die if you saw what I have. They look nice, but have the funkiest construction - they are all cracked and seriously I had to take out liability insurance for them - so afraid someone is goign to die...anyway I am on the hunt for some (not so) lovelies to revamp like you.

  9. Funny thing, some people do not enjoy doing chairs, but yours turned out beautifully!

  10. Chairs are my absolute favorite makeover too. There are so many fun things that can be done. Both of these turned out great! I've tried the Citrasolv transfer, but it didn't work so well for me. I'll have to give it another shot. As a former French major, your references Francais make me giggle (in a good way!).
